James Cedric Woods is an expert in Tribal government, American Indian education, economic development, and chronic disease prevention. He combines over a decade of tribal government experience with a research background. Dr. Woods is a citizen of the Lumbee Tribe of North Carolina and the Director of the Institute for New England Native American Studies (INENAS) at the University of Massachusetts, Boston. The institute aims to connect Native New England with university research, innovation, and education. Dr Woods has published several journal articles, reports, and blogs. He received his Ph.D. in Anthropology from the University of Connecticut.
