Georgia Mavrommati is an expert in Bioeconomics, Ecosystem Service Valuation, and Sustainable Development at the School for the Environment at the University of Massachusetts, Boston. Her research explores coupled human and natural systems(CHANS) and how socioeconomic systems interact with natural systems. Her work revealed how these interactions amplify the need to move beyond the methodological barrier of single disciplines by integrating economics and aquatic ecology into CHANS. Her recent work focuses on developing methodological frameworks for improving our understanding of the human-nature relationship and providing tools for improving environmental decision-making and maximizing intergenerational human well-being. Professor Mavrommati has published numerous journal articles on her research, and she received her PhD in Economics and Regional Development from Panteion University.
