Amit Patel is an expert in Urban Poverty, Health Disparities, Statistical and Simulation Methods, and Geographical Information Systems (GIS) in the Department of Public Policy and Public Affairs at the University of Massachusetts Boston. His research focuses on bottom-up approaches to improve socioeconomic outcomes for the urban poor. His main research projects funded by the National Science Foundation and the Melinda and Bill Gates Foundation include the integration of innovative approaches from the developed world to address issues in the developing world. He has published several journal articles and book chapters on his research. Professor Patel completed his PhD in public policy at George Mason University.
